Start Time 10:00 am
Route Closes 3:30pm
All riders participating in the 70km out and back tour of Gull Lake must depart from start/finish location by 10 am. All riders traveling longer distances must judge their travel time carefully to ensure their return by 3:30pm. Riders participating in the shorter 20km ride must depart by 12 noon.
Lunch 1:30-3:30
We always have a great lunch for our riders and volunteers and welcome you to linger and enjoy. We will be having a barbeque and welcome salads/sides if you feel so inclined. Please contact event director if you are willing to participate in the meal.
What to Bring/Wear
Early October is usually cool and rain, wind etc is possible (we won't say the "s" word). Wear layers, some moisture repelling clothes and if rain is forecasted, gloves, touque and even some bags to keep your feet dry during your ride. Of course, it could also be a beautiful fall day with no wind and blazing sunshine so keep an eye on the weather forecast as Ride Day approaches. Remember to have some extra tire tubes available and although there are rest stations along the route, consider bringing additional snacks if required.
After Your RIDE
A great lunch will be served around 1:30 and you are welcome to linger and enjoy after (or during your ride depending on how far you go). Riders are expected to depart or be picked up no later than 4pm.
Lost + Found
A welcome desk and lost and found are staffed through out the day at most locations.
Route Details
There will be two rides. One will be a longer 70km ride around Gull Lake. There will be an easier ride which will be a 20km out-and-back from Pik'n'Pak to Bentley. The shorter ride is aimed at families and will stick to bicycle trails. The longer 70km route will be a fulfilling challenge for most cyclists complete with beautiful scenery and gorgeous roads.
Rest Stops
There are numerous rest stops and volunteer cheerleaders along the route, providing water, snacks, aid and encouragement.
Route Safety
Routes are overseen by support vehicles identified by their bright RIDE flags. Volunteers direct riders at key intersections and in some locations local Police are employed to support the ride at critical spots along the route.
